Hear me out: Investing in places like public recreation centers, libraries and parks will probably do more to cure the loneliness epidemic than any technological invention.
Um, so the post I wrote while laying in bed blew up. @skinnylatte, I’m guessing that was your doing. 
While I’m at it: Those marginalized in our society suffer — socially and financially — when public transportation is not a priority.
But those don't sound profitable at all!

@civicDetroitDan Infection prevention would need to be part of a solution too. Online I don't risk brain damage and other permanent disability once or several times a year.
Physicaly this might be true, but going outside will prevent psychological impacts. I think the key lies in the balanace and, like you mentioned, meassures to reduce risks of infections.

I know. And to state it explicit: I do not disagree with you. I just think it's not one side or the other, it's somewhere in between.
@dexternemrod @civicDetroitDan Unfortunately I don't see any in between where I live. Only complete carelessness in the near 100% majority.
@dexternemrod @civicDetroitDan And despite that I had already tried making compromises in exchange for some social life. After the fact it wasn't worth it with the LongCovid I got and the loneliness that comes with it. Even when it was mild and apparently went into remission (there might be residual issues even now). Not again.

@civicDetroitDan also idk if related but some have pointed out that “male loneliness epidemic” is really just “men unable to see women & enbies as people” epidemic, but that might just be some being a bit cynical,

@civicDetroitDan But if we had social spaces that don't come with the expectation of buying something, people might go there and not buy anything. Imagine all those people, together, not buying anything. Nobody is making any money off them - it's unthinkable!
