@civicDetroitDan Been doing it this way forever — connected to the Music app on MacOS as Airplay 2 speakers. I don’t really use Siri on them (they’re 1st gen OG homepods and the Siri performance is quite bad, TBH.)
I use them because, in a stereo pair, they sound AMAZING, especially as I basically have them positioned like studio monitors — i.e. aimed at my head on opposite corners of the desk, and, er, FUCKIN CRANKED.
